Themes
I have a large resource of stories suitable for
class settings (Reception, Year 1 & 2) or
children’s clubs. All my stories are aimed at
ages 4-7+ and address issues that many children
have to face on their epic adventure of life.
Themes include:

Believing in ourselves / Being the best that we can be

Staying safe
I have a series of books inspired by Army life (but applicable to all children) with themes including:

Sessions
My professional qualifications include thirty years of experience working as a theatre practitioner in many schools and a dramatherapist in a number of therapeutic settings. Through these storytelling sessions, children are able to express their feelings about difficult and sometimes painful issues. I work predominantly with individual classes, to facilitate more opportunity for discussion / expressing feelings. However, some short stories also work well in an assembly setting.
Each session includes:

Introduction to the theme

Bringing the story to life with the use of props and toys

Opportunity to express feelings about / discuss the issues raised
Session lengths can be flexible and will vary according to whether I am sharing a short story or a book (20 minutes to 45 minutes; I can also do a longer workshop with certain stories – with interactive materials).
Costs
Thanks to the Plymouth and Devonport Methodist Circuit, I am able to offer storytelling sessions free of charge, in conjunction with my work as Performing Arts Mission Enabler. If booking independently:
40 minute session (book) will cost £40 (+ £30 per subsequent session)
20 minute session (short story / pre-school) will cost £40 (plus £20 per subsequent session)
